Obama Wins Iowa

Obama
This was a great victory yesterday for Obama. It is totally clear that the reuslts, from both parties, indicate a call for change and a repudiation of Bush & Cheney. This is great news.

But if you listen to the media you would think the contest is already done and the Dems have already selected their nominee. If you saw Tim Russert last night salivating over the results, you would have to come away believing he is actually routing for Obama and anxious to witness history in the making. It really feels like they are trying to turn Obama into the next Bobby Kennedy. Don't get me wrong, I respect Obama's message and his organization seems to be top notch. I just don't want to see the media actually help him and the media should actually let the other states have a say. At least Keith Olbermann showed some balance by pointing out that among Democrats, Obama's victory was much smaller at 32% to Clinton's 31%. Although, that may only show that he is more electable in the general election, at least let's let Dems pick our nominee. Clinton may still have a chance in upcoming contests that don't allow party crossover.

We should not automatically blow off the remaining states. No matter what the media tells you, you have to believe Edwards did well considering having to face two poltical heavyweights. His populist, anti-corporate greed message might be catching on.

One of the writers on a site I blog for talked a about Obama's win. Of course he first had to explain was a Caucus was to our readers, lol.

Honestly I hate to play the race card but I'm very surprised to see Obama win in a state like Iowa. Maybe the world isn't as racist as I thought. I'm feeling like if he can win there he can win anywhere.
